Taking part in sponsored events like those detailed below really cements our belief in our core values and creates a sense of camaraderie and teamwork throughout the company. Some of this year's events are detailed below.
On September 29th, a group from Search Laboratory are going to be sleeping rough in Leeds in order to raise money and awareness for the homelessness charity Simon on the Streets. In a continued effort to put back into the community, the 17 strong group will be meeting at 10pm to be taken around some of the regular haunts for the homeless in Leeds. By 12 midnight we will be getting ready to settle down for a night under the stars.
With only a cardboard box for company and the September weather really taking force, it promises to be a difficult night for all who are taking part.
A charitable event such as this will truly be beneficial for everyone. It will enable Simon on the Streets to continue their excellent work in providing 'a way out' for the homeless. But it will also really be an excellent experience for all taking part. A real eye opener and all round fantastic opportunity to learn about another way of life.
Other fundraising events that we have taken part in over the past few months include:
November 20th will see us donning our running trainers in preparation for the Leeds 10K Abbey Dash - A fun run through Leeds raising money for Age UK, helping the elderly in Leeds who are isolated and vulnerable.
'Way of the Roses' Bike Ride
Two of our directors, Ian Harris and John Readman cycled the 'Way of the Roses' route in August which is a 180mile bike ride starting at Morecambe on the west coast and finishing at Bridlington on the east coast. They managed to raise £20,000 to be shared between St Gemma's Hospice in Leeds and St Leonards Hospice in York.
