Company News

After 18 months working with Guide Dogs, it is time to welcome our new charity partner: Children’s Heart Foundation.

Part of the Search Laboratory culture is to give back to our community, and one of the ways we do this is by partnering with local charities to raise funds and provide digital marketing support. We ask our staff to nominate charities close to their heart; Children’s Heart Foundation (CHF) was put forward by our Head of Client Services, Laci Nottley.

Laci’s niece, Lia Kate, was born with three critical congenital heart defects. She had her first open heart surgery at just six days old, with a further two (at six months and five years). Thanks to the medical advancements made by CHF, Lia Kate is now happy and healthy; had she been born five years earlier, she would not have survived. Laci nominated them as our chosen partner so that we can raise awareness and funds which can go on to save the lives of more children born with congenital heart defects.

Who are CHF and what do they do?

Congenital heart defects (CHD) are America’s most common birth defect; affecting nearly 40,000 babies each year in the US. Founded in 1996, the Children’s Heart Foundation is the leading charity organization dedicated to funding congenital heart defect research. Research allows more advanced diagnosis, treatment and prevention of CHDs, which means children born with CHDs are able to live longer and healthier lives. Their work has meant that both the longevity and quality of life for those born with CHDs across the US has improved.

What will we do for Children’s Heart Foundation?

Our work with CHF is two pronged. We will be helping with their website and digital marketing activity, using our expertise to raise awareness and visibility to help gain more donations.

We’ll also be holding fundraising events over the next 18 months so our staff can raise money for Children’s Heart Foundation. Events we hold include bake sales, heart walks, ‘wear your pajamas to work’ day, silent auctions and more. We also are planning a family field day and cookie contest which will raise money for the charity.

You can keep up to date with our fundraising activities on our Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. If you’d like to find out more about how you or your organization can help CHF, visit their site.
