On Sunday 15th July, Search Laboratory’s CEO – Ian Harris, Sales Director – John Readman and Technical Manager -Paul Shearing took part in Tough Mudder 2012.

Described as ‘probably the toughest event on the planet’ Tough Mudder is a hardcore 12 mile obstacle course designed by British Special Forces to test all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. The event was held at Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate in Dumfriesshire, Scotland – a relatively picturesque setting for such a demanding, testosterone fueled event:

Tough Mudder was founded by Will Dean, a former counter-terrorism agent for the British Government. While getting his MBA at Harvard, Dean was inspired to start Tough Mudder out of frustration with unimaginative and repetitive marathons, triathlons, mud runs, and other adventure runs.

Ian, John and Paul managed to complete the course which included steep wall climbs, monkey bars, wading through water and mud, an ice bath, smoke filled tunnels, swimming underwater and cargo nets that give you electric shocks in well under the average three hours! Below are some photos of other teams completing the course to give you an idea of what it was like…

You can follow Tough Mudder on Facebook and view more of the photos from the day on the Tough Mudder Facebook page. We hope to have an even larger team for the next Tough Mudder event!
