Rob started his career on the ‘shop floor’ in the printing industry, eventually transitioning over to a more commercially focused role becoming an Estimator and eventually an Account Manager.
His journey into digital started with freelance web design and after clients started to ask him how the websites he’d built for them could rank better in organic search, his fascination with SEO and online marketing grew. He became obsessed with learning how search engines like Google worked and what it took to outrank the competition.
In 2011 he decided to combine his professional account management experience with his passion for SEO and joined Search Laboratory as an SEO Account Manager, quickly going on to become a Senior SEO Account Manager after achieving fantastic results for a range of clients.
In 2015 he achieved his ultimate ambition of becoming the Head of SEO. After two years of hard work innovating in the role, Search Laboratory was awarded Organic Team of the Year at the 2017 Drum Search Awards.
Since then, Rob has gone on to become Head of Digital – Earned and Owned where as well as overseeing the SEO offering, he has ownership of other service lines in the business including Social Media Management, Digital PR and the agency’s Creative offering.
Rob has contributed to industry publications such as IMRG, Total Business magazine, and SME Technology Guide to name a few.
He’s spoken on and written about topics such as investing in SEO as a long term strategy, how to leverage SEO in a build-up to peak periods and voice search.
He also features in our podcast on the future of digital marketing.
