After 18 months and over £12,600 raised for Guide Dogs UK, it is time to welcome our new charity partner: Leeds Hospitals Charity.
Part of the Search Laboratory ethos is to give back to our community, and one of the ways we do this is by partnering with local charities to raise funds and provide digital marketing support. We ask our staff to nominate charities close to their heart; Leeds Hospitals Charity was put forward by our Assistant Management Accountant, Scott Hamilton.
When Scott’s son Theodore was born prematurely and needed to be kept in hospital, Leeds Hospitals Charity provided huge amounts of much-needed support to get him and his partner through some extremely difficult months. With Theodore now happy and healthy, and back with his parents, Scott wanted to give back to the charity by nominating them as our chosen partner.
Leeds Hospitals Charity is the dedicated charity partner for Leeds Teaching Hospitals. They raise money to help buy life-saving equipment, fund ground-breaking research and clinical trials, and provide support for patients and their families. They also fund play specialists for Leeds Children’s Hospitals who help make life for kids on wards more fun, for example by making radiotherapy masks into superhero masks, and have funded a hangout space for children and teenage patients to help provide a haven which feels like home.
The money we raise at Search Laboratory throughout this partnership will go directly to the neonatal units that helped Scott and his family at both the Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) and St James’.
Our work with Leeds Hospitals Charity is two-pronged. We will be helping with their website and digital marketing activity, using our expertise to raise awareness and visibility to help gain more donations.
We’ll also be holding fundraising events over the next two years so our staff can raise money for Leeds Hospitals Charity. Events we hold include bake sales, Leeds 10k, ‘wear your pyjamas to work’ day, sports and TV sweepstakes, and more. We also have a charity tuck shop and Christmas present wrapping services which will raise money for the charity.
You can keep up to date with our fundraising activities on our Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. If you’d like to find out more about how you or your organization can help Leeds Hospitals Charity, visit their site.
