It seems like just yesterday we were opening the doors to our Austin office. Now, after one year of remarkable growth, we have a lot to celebrate. Since last July—when we were just an office of two!— we’ve added some seriously talented people to our ever-growing team, hosted some amazing events, and gotten to know our local Austin neighbors a bit better.
Opening a new office in a new city and state isn’t an easy endeavor to undertake. “It’s always a risk to expand a company,” says Laci Wiggins, EVP Americas and our intrepid leader. “…but we are already seeing the risk pay off. We’ve grown quicker than I could imagine, and we’ve done it well.”
Here are a few of our achievements from the last year that we’d like to celebrate:
They say everything is bigger in Texas… In the last year, we’ve outgrown not one, but two office spaces by adding 15 people (and counting) to our team!
“It has been awesome being a part of the Austin office for the past year,” says Jack Gardner, a Paid Search Associate. “The team has grown very quickly, but I think the culture and the great work environment have remained intact. I really enjoy spending time in the office with my colleagues at Search Laboratory, and I look forward to what is to come in the future.”
Our team growth has been powered by our ever-expanding client base in the US. The US arm of the business now accounts for 40% of Search Laboratory’s group revenue, with plenty of opportunity for further expansion.
With the addition of Growth Manager Grant Daniels to the team, Search Laboratory’s Austin team has played host to four bustling networking events, including a happy hour that coincided with our sponsorship of Forrester’s B2B Summit, and another one to celebrate our long-standing relationship with one of our clients.
“Since January, I’ve hosted a handful of successful networking events,” says Grant. “My favorite event was a kickoff happy hour for an incredible SXSW. I love bringing together different digital marketers from the Austin area!”
When we opened in Austin, we didn’t just want to be located here, we wanted to be a part of the community. That’s why our team has embraced local businesses like Zanzibar, Austin Urban Axes, and Wunderkeks (to name a few) for socials and team-building events.
“It’s been an honor trying to work out how to make socials exciting with only four people, to now having to try to figure out how we can fit all of us in one venue,” says Iman Jamoussi, Digital Account Manager and Office Social Head. “It’s a sign of the good work we do that we have to keep hiring more talented people to support our clients. I’m proud to be a part of it!”
Overall, we look back on our first year in Austin with pride but know the journey is only just beginning. We look forward to our continued growth, doing incredible work for our clients, and establishing Search Laboratory as one of Austin’s premiere digital marketing agencies.
