After three years and over £18,000 raised for Leeds Hospitals Charity, we are pleased to announce that Leeds Mind has been chosen as our new charity partner.

Giving back to our community is central to our ethos at Search Laboratory and one of the ways we instil this is by partnering with local charities, offering our digital services whilst also helping them to raise funds. Over the last three years, we have supported Leeds Hospitals Charity during a difficult pandemic period when traditional fundraising events could not go ahead.

When selecting a new charity, we ask staff to nominate charities close to both their heart and our values. Our Head of People, Renae Shaw, nominated the local Leeds Mind Charity which provides mental health support in the community.

“I’m so pleased my nomination was chosen and I know we can have a big impact working with Mind. This is a cause that is very close to my heart as I have lost close friends and family members who sadly did not get the support they so desperately needed. If we can help more people access the right services, this will be really rewarding and it’s great we can have fun whilst we’re doing it as there are lots of great events to get involved in.”

Leeds Mind

Leeds Mind is a mental health charity and part of the wider Mind group. Their work is centred around support and awareness, enabling people to overcome obstacles and become more in control of their lives.

Mental health is a significant challenge that one in four people experience difficulties with at some point in their lives. Leeds Mind provides support in numerous ways, whether it’s having someone to simply talk to, offering counselling and group therapy, employment support and much more.

Sophie Westmoreland, Leeds Mind’s Corporate and Events Fundraiser commented on what the partnership means for the charity:

‘We are so lucky to have the support of Search Laboratory. Their expertise in digital marketing is a wonderful asset to help us widen our reach in the community and their enthusiasm for helping local charities means that we can work together to fundraise our way to help bring better mental health to the people of Leeds. We’re so excited to work with the kind team at Search Laboratory!’

What will we do for Leeds Mind?

Alongside helping Leeds Mind with their website and digital marketing to drive traffic to the charity, we will be hosting frequent fundraising events and activities to raise money and awareness of their great work.

We will be organising our own apprentice-style fundraising event in September encouraging our internal teams to get creative and promote positive change for Leeds Mind. Keep an eye on our social media for updates on this. Our previous fundraising events have included the likes of running the distance between our Leeds, New York and Austin offices, abseiling down multi-story buildings and hosting countless cake sales.

The money raised during our partnership will contribute towards funding counselling sessions and peer support groups in Leeds. We have a target of £16,000 which will fund 200 counselling sessions and peer support for 240 people in the community. You can keep up to date with our fundraising activities on our LinkedIn page and to learn more about how you or your organisation can help Leeds Mind, visit their site here.
