Search Laboratory Awarded Tenth Place in the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Small Companies to Work For

Search Laboratory are thrilled to have been ranked the tenth best small company to work for in the country by The Sunday Times Top 100 list published yesterday, 26th Feb 2012.

The Sunday Times Top 100 Companies to Work For accreditation was established to recognise and reward excellence in the workplace and is based on a voluntary employee surveys, managed by Best Companies. Each year a selection of the best companies across the UK are selected and ranked across eight key areas of employer performance. The survey is regarded as one of the most robust in the market and includes both an Employee Survey and a 60 page Organisational Questionnaire. The survey, which is divided into eight key criteria: Leadership, My Manager, Personal Growth, Wellbeing, My Team, Giving Something Back, My Company, and Fair Deal really is a true test of employee satisfaction.

The companies with the highest scores are accredited with between 1-3 stars by Best Companies or named as ‘one to watch’. Search Laboratory achieved the highest three star accreditation in its first year of entering – a real accolade! Those who are accredited with 2-3 stars then go on to make up The Sunday Times Top 100.

The process which started mid-2011 surveyed all staff to find out how they felt about working at Search Laboratory. Out of the eleven key metrics cited in the Sunday Times – Search Laboratory were ranked in the top ten for seven; including 1st in the country for Well-being and Work Life Balance and 5th for Leadership.

Search Laboratory’s team spirit, employee well-being and leadership were cited as the foremost in a variety of factors which contributed to the company’s listing as one of the top 10 companies to work for in the UK. In-house practices such as staff having regular engagement and visibility with the management team in weekly knowledge sharing sessions all played a part in helping the company achieve top ten positions. Team members regularly have the opportunity to input creative ideas and influence decisions that impact the overall direction of the business which is one of the reasons why we believe the team are so happy and successful.

We are strong believers that happy staff make for happy clients so this award really is a massive achievement for Search Laboratory. Over a thousand companies entered the process in 2012 and of all the lists – the Small Companies category was the most fiercely competitive. With that said however, the small companies were said to be by far the happiest in the country!

Thank you to all our staff who collaboratively make The Lab such a lovely place to work – and thanks to all our clients and partners who have helped Search Laboratory get to where we are today.

We are continuing to proudly fly the flag for talent, creativity and happiness in Yorkshire!
