Graduate Advertising Executive - Marketplaces

Online Marketplaces are a great way for our clients to reach a wider audience and boost sales. ‘Marketplaces’ is a really new and exciting area of digital marketing, and our clients come to us as the experts who can manage this specialism for them. You don’t need previous digital experience to be successful: we hire bright graduates with the right attitude who want to start their career in online marketing. A ‘Marketplace’ is an online platform where multiple vendors can come together to sell their products. Amazon and eBay are two good examples of marketplaces we use to promote our client’s products. A lot of work goes into creating successful advertising campaigns, and you’ll need to have a numerate and analytical background, with also the ability to contribute creative ideas to our client’s marketing strategy.

First, we make sure we understand our target audience, which platforms are suitable, and how best to reach them. We need to allocate our clients budget in the most beneficial way, and so the decisions we make are based on the data and evidence we gather – this is where the logic and number crunching comes in! Not only do we make sure we’re reaching the right audiences, but we ensure we’re doing this at a time when they’re ready to buy.

We find graduates with a background in maths, economics or the sciences can be really well suited to this role: but really any degree where you have utilised analytical skills (this could be for your dissertation) can work well. You may have studied marketing or a completely different discipline. Regardless of your background, a passion for learning about digital is a must.

The role is really varied and no two days will be the same. Following extensive training you will be able to:

  • Manage client accounts to deliver a return on their investment
  • Advise on their advertising strategy and make suggestions to improve performance
  • Use optimisation techniques to spend the clients’ budget in the most effective way
  • Carry out budget reviews and offer competitor analysis insights
  • Report on activities and results to clients
  • Oversee activities to optimise the content on the site
